Live cell Spinning disk microscope is operational

After extensive testing we have a new microscopy setup at the CCI. It is a spinning disk automated microscope from Olympus (now Evident) that has the possibility to image fast, sensitive and at different imaging modes (wide field, confocal, bright field and in an Enhanced resolution mode -SoRa). Our intention is to replace the outdated (yet still functional) Leica SPE2 system when its errors become non-repairable.

The automation is such that the capacity to image efficiently will increase at the CCI. An analysis packages is associated with the setup (ScanR) that allows efficient object detection and quantification of digital images. The setup is functional yet we are optimizing the workflow of Olympus data into the analyses packages The spinning disk is from Yokogawa (W1 and includes a SoRa disk) and it is equipped with a LED wide field illumination (SpectraX) and 2 Hammamatsu Orca Fusion cameras.
